A Safety System for Experimental Magnets Based on CompactRIO

The Magnet Safety System (MSS) for the large LHC experimental magnets was designed, developed at CERN and commissioned in 2002. Some of its components like the isolation amplifier or FPGAs are not available on the market any longer. The system was therefore modernised based on CompactRIO devices. We will show the design and implementation of the MSS2 system for two large superconducting magnets.

Choosing a Software Architecture for Your Next Embedded Application

A Time Machine to Protect Future Power Systems

The paper presents the design, implementation and performance analysis of a novel protection relay based on Electromagnetic Time Reversal method running in real-time network simulator developed using an NI-cRio platform. The results show the method’s satisfactory performance, robustness against several uncertainties in power systems and high accuracy versus low computational cost.

Getting the most out of your NI Linux Real Time target

We'll examine useful packages you can install to your NI Linux Real-Time distribution and their interaction with LabVIEW. Examples include enhancing user mode security through the use of IP Tables and file encryption, accessing an NFS file system for distributed applications, and how to install GCC, python and node.js to compile and reuse code. Build your knowledge and toolbox so you can make the most of the existing open source IP available to run on your NI Linux Real-Time target.

Elstar Elektronik presents its Orion vibration analysis and rotor dynamics system based on a CompactDAQ platform, which offers up to 32 vibration measurement channels, and a powerful multi-plane, multi-speed in-situ balancing module, packaged in an extremely compact and portable roadcase.
